Chumash Trails Day; Old Trails, New Soles

Tribal Trust and Monticeto Trails Foundation would like to celebrate this new awareness and invite you to appreciate and recognize the people who came before us with a contemplative hike on the trails. You can do this any day, or join us for Chumash Trails Day; Old Trails, New Soles, in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day, on Sunday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m., at the Romero Canyon Trailhead. We will gather together, receive a traditional Chumash blessing, and then head out on the trail for a hike to experience the land with a new perspective guided by our new Chumash Trails Day Maps (available in English and in Spanish). If Covid-19 restrictions prevent gathering in a group at that time, we will encourage you to use the map we have created and reflect on the Chumash culture and its rich local history as you explore the trails together (while apart).
