Across the Peruvian Amazon — in the territories of Ucayali, Huánuco, and Loreto — deforestation and climate change are reshaping the lives of the Indigenous communities who have stewarded this land for generations. Bari Wesna was created in response, working alongside the Shipibo-Konibo, Ashaninka, and Yanesha peoples to restore local ecosystems by combining ancestral knowledge with modern conservation practice. At Tribal Trust Foundation, we’re proud to call Bari Wesna a partner in working with the Shipibo-Konibo, and we share their vision of sustainability and gender equity, built in true partnership with the communities who call the Amazon home.
Through its Sustainable Forests Programme, Bari Wesna supports reforestation, strengthens Indigenous territorial governance, and trains communities in sustainable resource management — helping generate income and development without compromising the ecosystems they depend on.
A Coloring Book for the Next Generation
As part of this work, in December 2023, we were so happy to support Bari Wesna to create a Shipibo-Konibo Coloring Book for Kids of All Ages introducing young readers to the rhythms, symbols, and spirit of the Amazon and the people who protect it. We’re delighted to share it here for kids of all ages to enjoy, print, and color:
