In February, the Tribal Trust Foundation responded to the request of Maya Shaw Gale, a life-long advocate of indigenous wisdom, past TTF Board Member, and current TTF Advisor, to sponsor Adrian Salas Xopan, a Mayan ceremonialist and healer, to participate in the Indigenous Earth Day Tikal Conference in Guatemala. The intention of the Tikal convergence of spiritual leaders and wisdom keepers from many diverse cultures was to build global alliances to preserve and promote the sharing of ancestral knowledge and practices with the focus on safeguarding Nature and regenerating disrupted ecosystems. It was a rich blend of teaching presentations, ceremony and ritual, discussions and sharing of artistic expressions held on an auspicious date in the Mayan calendar that was prophesied to be the opening of a portal to a new 26,000 year cycle of time.
TIKAL CONVERGENCE
Adrian led a beautiful ceremony called the Preciousness of Life that involved the colorful collaborative process of creating a cross to the four directions on the earth using flowers, cacao beans and seeds. It served as a healing medicine to all and then it was offered to the nearby lake. He also shared wisdom from his many years of being a Water protector and living on the land in a traditional Mayan village in the Yucatan. There were other rituals of renewal along with songs and dances from participants, creating an atmosphere of hope.

* Learn how to create your own conscious relationship with Water *
Creating the sacred space of ceremony together, we will offer our gratitude and blessings to Water for its gifts, commit to protecting its purity, and invite it to carry and amplify our intentions and prayers. When we do this, we are helping to restore Nature’s balance of giving and receiving, what the Indigenous refer to as the law of “reciprocity” by entering into a conscious partnership with Water.Questions?Contact Maya Shaw Gale
GRATITUDE ALWAYS
Thank you for being part of the Tribal Trust Foundation global family as we continue our 26th year of impact programming. Collectively, we are weaving together stories and traditions that support Indigenous peoples in preserving their wisdom ways, that in turn support a regenerative future for all.
The Tribal Trust Foundation is located in the unceded homelands of the Chumash People and the Seminole Tribe of Florida. By recognizing these communities, we attempt to honor their legacies, their lives, and descendants.
